FORN DE SANT JOAN

FORN DE SANT JOAN - c/ Sant Joan, 4 | 07012 Palma de Mallorca

As Mallorca is still a heaven for tourists, preferably Germans, most of the restaurants are tourist traps with menus on all living languages. We were however lucky to find a really good restaurant - FORN de Sant Joan. This is a very nice modern restaurant with very pleasant service. The food is made with high ambitions that they live up to. It is not very expansive either.

I specially remember the my lamb that had been cooked for seven hours. It was tender, juicy and tasty. It was served on smoked mashed potatoes – delicious and different! My desert was also something extra. It was fresh strawberries that they had made holes in and filled with crème brulé. The whole thing was covered with a crust of burned sugar. We could also get good wine by the glass, which is perfect when you are two people.

An interesting thing we noticed on Mallorca was that being a waiter still seems to be a respectable profession for men, like it was in Sweden in the old days. It is nice to be served by a person who knows what he is talking about instead of a young girl that does not know the difference between a sole and a turbot.

Those who can read Swedish are welcome to read about our entire trip to Majorca on http://france-midi.blogspot.fr/2009/09/min-forsta-resa-till-mallorca.html
